Jimmy Abbott is a priest serving Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Spring, Texas. Jimmy began at Holy Comforter in 2012 and since then the parish has experienced a time of transformation as the building project for a new church has been completed, new missions have been planted, new ministries launched, and as the church has grown substantially.

Jimmy earned his Bachelor of Arts in History with honors from the University of Texas at Austin. While attending UT, Jimmy discerned a call to ordained ministry. After graduation from college, Jimmy enrolled in the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia and earned his Master of Divinity with honors in May 2010. While in seminary, he served as a seminarian at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Virginia. His master’s thesis, “A Loud and Ungrounded Noise: the antiwar movement in the Episcopal Church during the Vietnam War,” explored this critical time in the history of the United States of America and the Episcopal Church.

Jimmy served as the Assistant Rector at St. Alban’s in Waco, TX from 2010 to 2012 where he worked with the young adults, youth, and taught a variety of education classes.

Jimmy and his wife, Maggie live in Spring and enjoy reading and music.  Jimmy also loves to play golf and write.
